I am incredibly proud and deeply grateful to have received the unanimous endorsement of the Ventura Unified Education Association (VUEA).
The trust of the educators who serve our children every day means an enormous amount to me, and it comes with a responsibility I take very seriously.
Thoughtful Transitions
As VUSD navigates school closures, one of my immediate priorities will be ensuring students are thoughtfully integrated into their new school communities. This is not simply about moving enrollment numbers from one campus to another. Every school has its own culture, traditions and identity. We need to understand those differences, bring communities together intentionally, and minimize disruption for students while supporting the parents, teachers and staff navigating that transition alongside them.
Fiscal Responsibility
Fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability must also remain at the center of every decision we make. Our resources are finite, and our responsibility is to ensure they are being used strategically to deliver the strongest possible outcomes for students.
Workforce Housing, Refined With Educators
And I am particularly excited about my workforce housing plan. I had the opportunity to present the proposal during my VUEA endorsement meeting, receive direct feedback from educators, and have begun refining it. That process will continue. My goal is not to take office and then start developing solutions. It is to arrive prepared to work on day one.
Showing Up
Teachers experience the consequences of School Board decisions every day in their classrooms. They deserve someone on that dais who will listen to them, respect their expertise, advocate for them and never lose sight of the students they serve.
To VUEA and Ventura’s educators: thank you for your confidence, your feedback, and your unanimous endorsement.
You show up for our children every day. I will show up for you.
