Endorsement: Equality California

August 22, 2026

Some endorsements signal momentum. This one reached somewhere much deeper.

I am incredibly proud to be endorsed by Equality California in my campaign for Ventura Unified School District Board of Education, Trustee Area 4.

Not Abstract Questions

Completing their questionnaire was personal. Questions about forced outing, inclusive curriculum, healthcare, school sports, restrooms, and Pride flags were not abstract policy questions to me. Behind every one was a student trying to determine whether school is safe enough for them to be themselves.

As a transgender woman, I know what it feels like to have your humanity turned into a political debate. I also know what it means when a public institution says clearly: you belong here.

Beyond Visibility

That is why my advocacy has never stopped at visibility.

In our city, when an effort threatened Ventura’s Pride flag, I helped organize the response, and then authored the P.R.I.D.E. Flag Policy requiring it to fly above city buildings every June. I also helped author and advance CARE policies in Ventura and Ojai protecting gender-affirming healthcare, reproductive freedom, and immigrant communities.

What I Will Bring to the Board

On the school board, I will bring that record with me. LGBTQ+ students deserve privacy, affirming mental-health resources, trained educators, inclusive curriculum, and campuses where their identities are never treated as shameful or disposable.

I intend to bring forward a policy to fly the Pride flag above every VUSD school each June as one visible part of that broader commitment.

Thank you, Equality California, for seeing not only who I am, but the work I have done and the work still ahead. I am honored to carry your trust through this campaign and, with the voters’ support, onto the Board.
