Today was one of those moments where you can feel the future taking shape.
I had the honor of being invited to a women’s leadership luncheon in Camarillo, alongside an incredible group of candidates and leaders who are stepping up to serve our county, including Ashley Orozco, Ruth Luevanos, Karen Sher, and Michelle Ascension.
What stood out to me most was not just the campaigns. It was the why.
The Women Who Came Before
Each woman shared the story of someone who came before her. Someone who inspired her, challenged her, made space for her, and ultimately gave her the courage to run.
And sitting there, listening, I realized something very personal.
I know exactly what they meant.
Because I see that same inspiration in them.
None of Us Arrive Here Alone
As a first-time elected delegate and a candidate for the Ventura Unified School Board, I do not take lightly what it means to step into public service. None of us arrive here alone. We are all carrying forward the work, the sacrifices, and the vision of the people who made it possible for us to even be in these rooms.
And now it is our turn.
To lead. To serve. To build something better for the next generation.
The Work Ahead
Representation is not symbolism. When women step into public service, they bring the full weight of their communities with them, and they change what leadership looks like from the inside.
I am grateful to be in this space. Grateful to be part of this moment. And more motivated than ever to do the work ahead.
Let’s get to it.
