Denim Day: Why I Share My Story

April 29, 2026

Last night, I stood in a room full of people committed to something that does not always get talked about openly, but impacts more lives than most of us realize.

Denim Day is about more than awareness.

It is about making sure that when someone experiences sexual violence, there is somewhere to go. Someone who will believe them. And a path forward.

How I Found My Way Forward

In July of 2023, my life changed in an instant.

What followed was not just about what happened to me. It was about how I found my way forward.

And I did not do that alone.

The Coalition for Family Harmony met me in one of the most difficult moments of my life, with empathy, with care, and with the tools I needed to begin healing.

That is what they do.

They do not just respond to crisis. They walk with survivors through it. Counseling. Advocacy. Support. And now, safe housing through their new shelter, something I was incredibly proud to help open just weeks ago.

You Are Not Alone

I share my story because I know there are people reading this who are still carrying theirs in silence.

You are not alone.

And there is support out there when you are ready.

Thank you to the Coalition, to the evening’s honorees, and to everyone who continues to show up for survivors in this community.

This work matters.
